How would my boyfriend go about getting a minority scholarship? He's 21 years old, and has never taken any college courses whatsoever. He's really looking into getting a minority scholarship at Florida A&M University, however we both don't know how to go about doing it. Does anybody have any suggestions, or know how?

So why cant I get a minority scholarship? Why shouldnt I? I am a second-generation Dutch immigrant. The Dutch make up only 1.8% of the American population, and that includes everyone to claim even partial ethnic affiliation. Facts were gathered from the CIA World Fact Book. The way I see it, the Dutch are severely under-represented in the USA. In fact, calling me "white" is an over-generalization, to say nothing of being insensitive and callous to my ethnic heritage. I find the term "white" insulting and ambiguous, dehumanizing in fact. Since my people only make up such a small percentage of the population, and not all of us know English (particularly the new immigrants), why cant I get a scholarship as a minority? Its not like I am sitting on a pile of money like every other "white person". If your skin is white and you arent already rich, you have no chance of succeeding in America. Pride based on superficialities with no individualistic effort put in are the basis of prejudice. Being supporting of your own race or gender IS prejudice... because you cannot support one more than another without that other being supported less or put on the back burner. Positive prejudice, its called, when its prejudice that is unjustly supportive, at the cost of equality... even if no hatred exists for the alternatives.

Is anybody against minority scholarships for whites? For undergrad, I attended an HBCU (Historically Black College/University). For those unfamiliar with the term, and HBCU is a school founded after the Civil War that served as a learning institution for blacks, since they were not allowed to go schools with whites. Anyway, an HBCU has a 99.99% black student population. Whites, of course, are allowed to attend, but they are awarded a minority scholarship for doing so. Does anybody see the contradiction in this? They wouldn't allow us to go to their schools, so we built our own, and now they want to come to our schools at a discount price. I'm not against whites at HBCUs....I'm just against them getting a minority scholarship. Does anybody agree/disagree? what are your reasons?
