Scholarships for women returning to college? Hey there all - a buddy of mine asked if I knew of any places that might be able to help her financially go back to nursing school - and I was stumped. women college swimming scholarship? I want to swim in college, but I also need a scholarship. Here are my times: 100 backstroke: 1:03 200 IM: 2:22 500 Free: 5:29 200 backstroke: 2:16 What colleges would give me a scholarship for these times?
More women graduating from college than men? I've heard that there are more women graduating from college than men nowadays. This confirms what I've always known to be true: that gender equality is impossible, because interpersonal dynamics require one gender or the other to be dominant. I feel that there are 2 reasons for the change in college graduation: 1. There are tons of self-help groups and scholarships for women, but not for men. 2. The anti-male attitudes and norms in many colleges and universities. Challenging these anti-male attitudes is clearly important, but I have another idea. How about creating scholarships and financial assistance programs specifically for men?
What scholarships are available for a smart, 51 year old female HS graduate who wants to go to college? South of Boston, MA 51 yr old woman never got to go to college because I had to take care of 4 younger siblings, and my parents didn't have the money. I've worked for 25 years at a physically challenging job and I would like to finally fufill my life's dream of getting a college degree. However, between rent and car payments, etc, the only way I can afford to go would be if I got a significant grant or scholarship. Does anyone in MA know of any scholarship programs for older women who want to go to college?
University of San Francisco or Mills College? okay, so i got this huge $18,000 scholarship from Mills College, a women's college. I am interested in going there, it seems it will be very libertating. USF on the otherhand, was orginally my first choice, but now i'm uncertain. I did however, receive my financial package from USF which will be approx $38,000 for the 2007-2008 year including stafford loans. That's pretty huge since the whole cost is $45,000. Anyway I havent received my financial package from Mills yet and i'm waiting on that. Plus the cost of going there is $47,000! That's alot of money. If you were in my situation, which college would you chose. Feel free to do some research yourself at www.mills.edu www.usfca.edu thanks I will be a biology major.
Grants for women going to college? Hi, I'm looking for scholarships and grants that are available to get their undergraduate degrees. I am currently going to school and so far so good, but with the current economic state I'm getting a little worried, just curious if you know of any good grants or scholarships to apply for. Also I've seen a lot of advertisement for those software packages that are supposed to tell you about available grants and I'm skeptical. Just wondering if any of you have tried it and how it worked for you. Thanks!

pole vault in college? how high does a woman have to vault to get onto the pole vaulting team at a reasonably good university?...how high would a woman have to vault to get a scholarship to a college with a good pole vault team?
Will there ever be a woman in the MLB? I played baseball for 7 years. And for 4 years of that, I was the best player. My dream used to be the first woman to play in the MLB. But, now I have quit baseball because they were just getting to fast for me. So, now I am in softball and, I am so ahead of all the girls skills wise. I love softball, and hope to get a scholarship to college with it. Do you think there will ever be a woman daring enough to pursue a dream of being in the MLB?
Why do politicians always say that we need to allow more immigration because the US needs more workers? Why don’t they just ask American women to have more babies? They could change the tax laws to give higher deductions for children, and provide more scholarships to college for children from middle class families. If American women had 3 or more babies each, we wouldn't need any immigration. Since when is having 3 children considered a large family? We should be providing scholarships for engineering and science to US citizens instead of producing so many lawyers, and importing so many tech workers from India. From "Death of the West" by Pat Buchanan. The Civil Rights Act should be amended to allow employers to pay higher wages to parents than to single people, to enable one spouse to stay home with infants and toddlers and to be there when the kids come home from school. Instead of a tax deduction for day care, so mothers can return to work, the federal tax credit for each child should be raised to $3,000. Employers should be given tax incentives to pay higher wages to parents. We need to revive the idea of the family wage, where a single income is adequate for a secure and comfortable life for a growing family. The burden of corporate taxation should be shifted off family businesses and farms onto the larger corporations. Corporations only collect taxes. “Death taxes” should be abolished immediately for family business, family farms, and family estates worth fewer than five million. To pay for these family tax cuts, then tax consumption and duties on imports.
what do you think of women in the marines... or any branch? im currently on a full ride basketball scholarship at college right now working on my criminal justice degree but ive been heavily considering the military when i get out what are your takes on women in the military... my best friend is in the marines and he says its the best thing that has ever happened to him this is him and me: http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm312/jobussa33/l_681f021a3a4ce202fd2d3e9ce4ae54c21.jpg
Why are most women are more likely to not use their degree past 35 or younger. Is it just disturbing that more women go to college than men(which because of more women in the world, when are obviously just as smart as guys, and grossly more specialized scholarships) but most women are likely to not use their degree past 35 or younger. Not all just most. Why is that ? What is your opinion ? Researched at Census Bureau by the way. Do u not see something wrong wit dat ?
Can you get scholarships for intercollegiate sports? I know I want to play basketball in college but I don't think I'm good enough for the Division I basketball teams of the schools I'm applying to. I saw at some schools with only Intercollegiate Basketball they still have Men and Women's scholarship but they're not DI, DII, or DIII. Is this the same for all colleges or does it differ for all colleges. I really want a basketball scholarship though. By the way just in case you don't know, Intercollegiate sports play against other colleges just at a lower level than DI, DII or DIII, it's not intramural or club sports.
What do you think about this new law for college scholarships? (Discussion)? Our teacher showed us this a little while ago, during our Life Skills class when we were discussing race in our community, inside and outside of our school. When we got to the topic of Affirmative Action, he showed us this website and an excerpt from it: "Revamped: Minority Scholarships Must Include White and Male" "Over the last five or six years conservative watchdog groups like the Center for Equal Opportunity (CEO) have called universities like the University of Michigan, Southern Illinois University, and SUNY on the carpet for racial discrimination in their admissions practices. At question are the scholarships restricted to minorities. In response to the threat of legal action, all have revamped their “minority” and female-focused scholarships to include white students and males. And it’s not just the CEO speaking out; charges emanate from an increasingly disgruntled applicant pool frustrated with access to college programs." Taken from http://www.collegescholarships.org/scholarships/white-scholarship-guide.htm Basically, it talks about how schools are now forced to include whites and males into previously minority-only and female-only scholarships. What are your thoughts on this? Good, bad? Helping equalize the application system, or just throwing up another barrier to women and minorities. All answers are welcome :)
Scholarships for low GPAs.? The past two year I have barely slacked off. I have taken all advanced classes such as AP Literature, College Writing, AP American History, CP Chemistry, Anatomy - I am going to a trade school for Digital Media Technology the only thing that doesn't qualify me for the NHS is my math. I am in 2 math classes, both very low grades. I've taken all low levels of math and still it brings my GPA down. I can truly say that I have worked my hardest but I am still at a 2.8. I inspire to go to a University in Saginaw and I would really like to get an Althetic Scholarship for women's hockey. If I can't do so - Are there any scholarships for someone like myself? College Volleyball Recruiting? I have some questions on recruiting/scouting for women's college volleyball... How do you get recruited? When does it usually start? What is the best way to "put yourself out there? What do college coaches look for in their players? What position usually gets the most recruits? Do Liberos/Ds get scouted/recruited/scholarships? How do you get colleges to consider you How do you decide on which college to play for? Have any advice about getting a scholarship? What are the top college volleyball schools for women? thanks!
Is affirmative action stupid? What will happen when whites are the minority? I have a question. Am I dumb for thinking that we should put skin color behind us and not give anyone special merits or considerations solely based on their race? I understand that affirmative action was needed - AT ONE POINT IN TIME. I think that it as well as similar programs are now being grossly abused - ex: College scholarships for people who are a minority (I actually got this), well how about we give people scholarships based on how hard they're willing to work whether or not they're white black etc. And affirmative action, well what if someone else is more qualified? I wouldnt expect to get any perks based on being a woman or skin color. Which brings me to the idea of reparations, get over it, most people who were enslaved are already dead or almost there. If your grandma beat up my grandma in 1937 I wouldn't demand money or special treatment from you because it's the past and people have advanced since then. Do you think people just want to take shortcuts?
Are the any scholarships for students over 40 or 50 years old? I am a 50 year old woman and I desparately want to go back to school to complete my education. At this point, I cannot afford to pay for college. I just want to know if there is any funds or scholarships that would grant me money to continue my education?
What are some great liberal arts colleges for a history major? I want a school where I'm not just a number and has study abroad programs. I need a lot of financial aid and scholarships. The college needs to have a women's tennis team and some kind of vocal ensemble. Thanks in advance. PS: A list would be greatly appreciated not just "go google this"
Discrimination - are caucasian males subject to it? A hispanic co-worker was telling me of the hardships he had to go through for being hispanic, such as being harrassed by officers when driving back to California from Mexico. It got us thinking how caucasian males were discriminated against, if they were at all. What do you think - do caucasian males face some form of discrimination specific to being "caucasian male." I believe they do face discrimination/are not given the same opportunity as others in some areas, and I will only list one because I am curious as to what others will answer. Consider college scholarships: there are scholarships for different ethnicities, but a scholarship offered specifically for caucasians would be called racist. There are scholarships for women, but a scholarship for men would be called racist. Just because they are caucasian and male doesn't mean they might not need some financial assistance or scholarship. What would you say to a scholarship just for male caucasians? CORRECTION - I accidentally wrote that a scholarship for males would be called RACIST...obviously I meant that it would be called SEXIST.
Are there scholarships available for african women who would like to persue a career in accounting? I am a woman from kenya and wold like to get a degree in accounting but unfortunately i cant afford it. I am not in college at the moment though i did CPA 1 but did not complete due to lack of fees. I need to be self reliant and maybe be able to help others in future. Some tribes in Kenya marginalise women due to their culture and as a result see women as people who should stay at home and take care of children. Most women in the rural cannot access good education and (later on in life ) if they get enlightened and decide to join a college, they often lack funds. Am in need of funds to persue my career.I need to take a parallel degree program in bachelor of commerce accounting option. I have no money on me yet i need to study, does anybody know where i can get a scholarship please...please...please. God bless you
Why do people ignore discrimination against white males? I mean, if everyone's equal, then why do minorities and women get special consideration for college applications and scholarships. If we ever did the opposite (made it easier for white males to get into college), it would be a huge racial/gender lawsuit, but for some reason it's perfectly fine if the discrimination is against white males. I think what a lot of people don't understand is that I wasn't around during the slavery period. I wasn't around when blacks had to sit at the back of the bus. I have only been here for 17 years. Why do I have to pay for something I didn't do?

What is the best way to find and apply for pre med scholarships? My daughter is a straight A student in Oregon and will be a senior this fall. She has wanted to be a doctor all her life and now we are looking into possible scholarships wherever they may be found. Our family has limited income/wealth. In addition to her excellent GPA (3.95) she is also lettered in various sports and holds poll vaulting records at her high school. As a junior in high school she has already accumulated 22 college credits. What are the best scholarships available for a motivated and talented young woman? Thanks very much
havent we, thru laws and forced action, done enough for equal rights? in the 1950s, only what 35 percent of the population lived like the beavers, but thats all you see, because most everyone else was mute, didnt have a voice, women,minorities..... god bless america. but in the last 57 years, there have been leaps and bounds forward....and it seems everyones pretty much caught up and now the special interest groups are asking for ridiculous things and suing for nothing, to the point where we have companies that do nothing but lecture other companies employees on diversity. it sounds like a racket, i understant minorities had it real rough, women, too...but now, come on we're all on the same slipper credit slope. and you cant change everyones minds by enacting laws. im sure ill get alot of hate, but im not trying to be offensive, im just illustrating a point. go online and type "women or minority college scholarships" then type "white dude that doesnt play sports scholarships" and youll see that we're done. sorry if i offended you. thoughts? listen, if i see a group of old ladies walking toward me on a dark street i move....because people are evil, not colors. and women dont make less, they make more. stop believing the dribble that the liberals put out

How black do you need to be to apply for a United Negro College Fund Scholarship? I'm a white Hispanic and my wife is mixed race hispanic (think Sammy Sosa as a woman). Our kids look like curly haired spaniards. Can they apply? What are their chances? Can we sue if they say were are too white? Meh - The correct grammer is "you're an as$" not "your an as$" Keep practicing. But get your white friends to help with your scholarship essay.
